Recently my life has taken several unusual turns. I've discovered that I'm too focused on the things that the world says that I need to be. And in the process I'm missing out on some amazing things.

Children are Sometimes Wiser

We are adults. We've got it all figured out. Right? Sure. Until a child opens his mouth.

My son does say the darnest things. Out of the blue he'll make a joke that sends you rolling or a profound statements that shuts you up. You just never know with him.

One day my husband was driving along and living to public radio. A man was on there talking about his latest book in which he states that in 20 years gas will be over $20 a gallon. The results will be no more mega supermarkets and chains, no more cars, no more long distance traveling because we will revert back to the way our great-great grandparents lived and it will be better for all. If you want a gallon of milk, you will ride your horse or walk to a neighborhood grocery story and buy it.

A farmer called in and stated that what the guy missed is that if gas is that high, a gallon of milk will be $20 a gallon to reflect the high cost of the gas that was needed to process and transport it.

All of these were very good points and something to talk about. But my son was pondering something so obvious that no one else got it. You have to keep in mind that he is only 10 years old. He looked at his dad and said, "But couldn't $20 be nothing in 20 years? After all a $100 is worth less today than it was in our grandparents day."

My children teach me a lot. On that day my son made me realize that I don't know the future. I have no idea what it really holds. Therefore, as the good Book says, why am I worrying about tomorrow when today has enough to worry about?
